Our Attitudes Towards Sustainability

I often wonder: what is the biggest problem facing Pakistan: corruption, political instability, poverty, or a lack of understanding the importance of sustainability in every field? Is it not we as a nation who spoil everything we have and everything we get? Being a poor country, we should have been the nation that uses the most bicycles in the world, but Pakistan is the one whose roads are most crowded with cars and motorbikes. We love ease, comfort, and luxury. Where does this attitude come from? Why do we not move towards saving our own resources and living a more productive life by helping the planet save its resources as well? You can see examples of people spending without thinking at every turn in Pakistan, from eating in restaurants to buying a lot of cars and motorcycles. from wasting water by people in Punjab despite knowing that Gilgit Baltistan is facing a huge water crisis.

We need to understand that sustainability is not an option anymore. We have spoiled the earth's resources, and now it is on the verge of collapsing, and we are not doing anything for it. We need to be more empathetic as a nation. How can we waste water when our fellow countrymen are struggling to get clean water? We should look inside ourselves and wonder if this is a human act to buy three cars and ruin the atmosphere and natural resources by filling your cars with gasoline while other people are simply struggling with food and water insecurity. Even students in Pakistan prefer to use their own conveyance instead of carpooling or using public transport. This attitude has to change because if we don't destroy our attitude, it can destroy us because Pakistan is facing severe climate change issues and water, energy, and food insecurity. We should unite as a nation and change our attitude towards these issues, as it is a matter of survival now.
